Silina-Kae Grace

We were very blessed to welcome our beautiful daughter into the world on November 20th at 1:30 am. She was a healthy 7 lbs 15 oz and 21 inches long and scored 10/10 on both of her initial birth tests. The labour went quite quickly and although "fast and furious" seem to go together, I was grateful that it did not last much longer than 8 hours. Isi and I went to the hospital around 5 pm when the contractions started getting strong, and after 6 hours of waiting and 2 1/2 hours of pushing (which was very difficult of course) our little Silina-Kae arrived screaming at the top of her lungs. She is apparently going to be a singer :) Unfortunately my recovery was a little more intense than I had expected (including quite a lot of stitches), but Isi did a wonderful job taking care of both mom and baby.

Coming home we had a lot of help since we are currently staying with my parents - who by the way are exuberant first time Grandparents. I think Silina spent her entire first few weeks of life continually in someone's arms. She is a wonderful baby. Her sleep patterns right now are still on Australian time. She enjoys sleeping very peacefully during the days and being very awake most nights. Now that she is 7 weeks old we are finally starting to develop a better routine. Isi and I still consider ourselves fortunate if Silina is sleeping before 3 am, but now she generally sleeps for atleast one 4-hour stretch each night. Life has changed dramatically for us, but we will both tell anyone that it is definitely worth it :) We love being parents. It is very challenging, but even more rewarding.
