Hi Friends,
Here is our latest...
DTS:
The Discipleship Training School that we are working with has only 2 weeks left!! The students are getting very excited for outreach. They will be traveling down to Sydney for 6 weeks to five different Aboriginal communities and spend the remaining 2 weeks in a community closer to Brisbane.
It is amazing to see how our students have developed and grown over the last 3 months. This week they performed skits and dances to show what they learned in the book of Philemon through Inductive Bible Study. They are a fun-loving group of hard workers who never turn down a challenge.
Isi’s Big Event:
This last week Isi planned out an ‘amazing race’ type event based on the Israelites’ Exodus for the DTS students and base staff to participate in. Since the school is called “Walk-A-Bout DTS” (Aboriginal Australian phrase for their nomadic tendencies), the event was called “The Amazing Walk-A-Bout” and 2 people were partnered together, given clues, and expected to perform tasks at 10 different stations. It was quite an elaborate event taking a few hours. Not only were the 10 teams tied together to their partner at the wrists with zip ties, but they were required to run approximately 5 kms to the local McDonalds, blindly choose and eat a mystery dish, put the 10 Commandments in order correctly, and many other interesting things. Isi in all his creative ability did a fantastic job in organizing and executing this huge event. Everyone had a great time!!
Family News:
Silina is doing great these days. There are 2 other baby girls very close to her age here at the base and she loves having ‘girl time’ with them. She has grown into quite the little person and her new favorite thing to do is throw her toys and just generally show off to the people around her.
Due to the worsening political state in Fiji at the moment, Isi and I had decided that we wouldn’t go see his family again before we left for Canada (knowing that we won’t be there again for quite a while). However, his mom is continuing to struggle with her health and has had a few new setbacks, so Isi is going by himself for 4 days to spend time with his mom. We are praying that this is not the last time that he gets to see her, but at the same time, he is preparing himself for that possibility. He left this morning, so Silina and I are on our own until Thursday. Please keep us in your prayers, as this will be stretching for me to do everything on my own.
Coming home!!
Once the DTS is finished, we are quite excited to be flying back to Manitoba on June 8th!! We will be home for 3 weeks before we fly to Hawaii for the next part of our training. While we are home, my brother is getting married and we are hosting a YWAM team for 5 days who are performing at the Niverville fair. We will be hitting the ground running when we step off the plane, but it will definitely be nice to see all our friends and family again :)
Prayer Requests:
- Please pray for strength for all 3 of us this week as Isi is gone, and as we finish up here in Australia.
- Pray for our safe drive back down to Sydney June 4th and for our safe flights home on June 8th.
- Please also pray for Meagan and Nic Plett who have volunteered to nanny for us in Kona that God will provide for their financial needs while they help us as we continue our training.
Thank-you:
Thank-you so much for your interest in our lives, and your continued prayers and support. We really appreciate it and love hearing how you are doing! Please send us an email if you get the chance :)
Tessa, Isi & Silina-Kae
